Reston, VA woodworker John Mendez distills his many skills in the crafting of boxes. His specialty is combining a variety of different woods in precise inlays to create one-of-a-kind pieces with visual texture and satiny finish. John is retired and does woodworking for the love of it - his prices haven't risen in a decade!


Handles present yet another opportunity to employ different woods. This box has a body of jatoba and cherry; lid of walnut, mahogany, oak and sycamore with a circle of resin inlay; handle of bocote, mahogany and oak.
